The NHS Leadership Academy, working with Alliance Manchester Business School and a consortium of partners, have co-created and are co-delivering two of healthcare’s largest ever professional leadership development programmes.

The Elizabeth Garrett Anderson programme - NHS Leadership Academy

The Elizabeth Garrett Anderson programme is fully accredited and designed to develop high-level people management skills and world-class business acumen necessary for the demands of senior leadership in today's NHS. The programme is jointly accredited by the Universities of Manchester and Birmingham, building on our well-established and successful partnership between our institutions over the past decade.

The Anderson programme is unique in ambition, scale and design. Commissioned by the NHS Leadership Academy and designed and delivered by a KPMG-led consortium, it offers a comprehensive and participant-centred blended learning experience for aspiring senior leaders in the NHS.

The Nye Bevan leadership programme - NHS Leadership Academy Award in Executive Leadership

Nye Bevan is an intensive programme that has been specifically designed to develop senior leaders across the NHS by developing the skills, knowledge, attitudes and belief needed to perform at executive team and board level.  Designed with national and international experts in health and organisational performance, the programme offers support and learning to build personal resilience, confidence and capabilities, powerfully leading transformational change at a regional, national, and organisational level.

Alliance Manchester Business School is proud to be a leading member of the consortium that delivers the Nye Bevan programme in partnership with the NHS Leadership Academy. The consortium includes faculty from the universities of Birmingham, Harvard, Pretoria and Erasmus, Cumberlege Eden and partners, National Voices and is coordinated by KPMG.

PGDip Leadership and Management in the Healthcare Sciences

Alliance Manchester Business School provides the leadership and management component of the Higher Specialist Scientist Training Programme (HSST) for NHS Health Education England through The University of Manchester's Academy for Healthcare Scientist Education (MAHSE). The HSST is a five-year blended- and workplace-based training programme leading to Doctorate in Clinical Science (DClinSci). It is designed to support the development of the clinical consultant workforce for the NHS. Our programme is willing to accept small numbers of non-HSST individuals with backgrounds similar to the NHS scientists.
